Arcam’s current amplifier range looks simple — three integrated amplifiers and two streaming amplifiers — but the differences are worth understanding properly before you spend. Here is the slightly techy version, minus the brochure gloss.
The shared DNA
Every model shares the same design philosophy: generous power supplies, low-noise circuit layouts, a proper moving-magnet phono stage for a turntable, and a voicing that favours long-term listenability over showroom fireworks. The differences are about current, control and features — not character.
A5+ and A15+ — the conventional pair
The A5+ and A15+ use refined conventional output stages, stepping up in power and grip. The A5+ suits compact rooms and easier loudspeakers; the A15+ is the range’s all-rounder, comfortable with most standmounts and sensible floorstanders — it partners beautifully with Monitor Audio’s Silver range in our listening room.
A25+ — where Class G arrives
The A25+ moves to Arcam’s fifth-generation Class G output stage — multiple power rails, with the amplifier gliding onto higher rails only when the music demands it. The practical result: the efficiency to run cool at normal levels, with genuine reserves for dynamic peaks and harder loudspeaker loads. Our amplifier classes guide unpacks the theory.
SA35 and SA45 — the all-in-one route
The SA models add streaming, digital inputs including HDMI, and Dirac Live room correction to that Class G foundation — 120 watts per channel in the SA35, 180 in the flagship SA45. One box, one remote, and the room measured into the bargain.
